About DOT Sentinel
DOT Sentinel is an independent monitoring service for motor carriers. We re-read your FMCSA carrier record's live public data every day and alert you the moment something threatens your operating authority.
Why we exist
FMCSA requires every carrier to file an MCS-150 biennial update — miss the window and your operating authority can be deactivated automatically, no grace period. But authority can also be revoked or your insurance can lapse well before that date, silently. Most carriers find out at a weigh station or when a broker won't tender freight. We close that blind spot.
What we watch
- Whether operating authority status leaves Active.
- Insurance on file lapsing or lapsed.
- The MCS-150 due date itself — reminders at 120, 60, 30, 14, 7 and 1 day out.
- Any change to the underlying FMCSA record.
What we are — and aren't
We are not FMCSA, not the U.S. DOT, and not a paid filing service. Filing your MCS-150 at FMCSA.gov is always free, and we link you straight to it. We never ask for payment to file, we never ask for your FMCSA Portal login, and we never ask for or store your EIN or banking details.
How we make money
One product, one price: $149/year (or $19/month) to watch one carrier's operating authority. There is no free tier and no upsell, and we do not sell your data. Third-party filing services charge to do what's free at FMCSA.gov — you're paying us to watch, not to file.
